Flat Competition

The Flat Competition, featuring the NPL's signature puzzles created by members, is one of the highlights of the convention.

This year's competition is titled CASEY AT THE FLAT and is organized by Saxifrage.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright,
The flattists have their pens (or keyboards) all set up to write;
And somewhere solvers grin in joy and all the puzzlers cheer:
There is great joy in Kreweville: SiLiCon is almost here!

This year's convention flat-writing competition will feature a straightforward theme: sports! Baseball, football, basketball, croquet, Quidditch, you name it — anything considered a sport is fair game. You may make use of the theme in your choice of bases, your verse, or however else you like.

A reminder that solvers will be solving these flats under time pressure and without references, so please bear that in mind when choosing bases and writing verses.
