This year's flat competition is intended to hono(u)r both the Con we didn't get to have last year in Toronto and the one we hope to have this year in Washington, DC. To that end, each flat must include some reference to one of the symbols of Canada and one of the symbols of the US. (This linked PDF file contains a list of possible symbols.) Your flat may be of any type, but do bear in mind that the flat competition is solved without references and with a time limit, so this may not be the best place for your super-obscure or very niche bases.

The deadline for submissions is JUNE 20. Please email your flats to with "Flat competition" or something similar in the subject line.

I will also be looking for test-solvers, so if you don't plan on solving at Con and would be interested in helping out, please let me know. Thanks!
